The greatest tragedy in life is not death but life without purpose. The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why – Mark Twain. What do you want to be remembered for? What impact do you want to make? What contributions will be ascribed to you? What is your God given assignment? You will be among men most miserable to have gone through life not realizing what you were meant to accomplish.
I read the story once of a lady who was asked to wash the dishes and she spent the entire day scrubbing the kitchen floors and polishing them, she also cleaned the walls and kitchen tiles but never touched a single dish in the kitchen sink. The owner of the house returned and one look at the sink her face was reeking with displeasure but the lady had a wide grin. She asked the owner do you like how shinny the floors are? But the house owner would not even notice the floors for she said you did not do what I asked of you to do.
We all are not meant to do everything but we are meant to do something, if we do everything save that one thing we are meant to do, we would be like this lady and our maker God will nod in displeasure at what we might be considering as great work.
Dr Myles Monroe said “when purpose is not known abuse is inevitable”.
Cars do not tell other cars what they were created for.
In finding the purpose of a thing you ask the manufacturer. If you believe God is your creator then your discovery of purpose lies in your discovery of God. For a man to find himself he or she must find the one in whom we all live, move and have our beings. Ask the manufacturer, pray to God and ask he reveals your specific calling to you and he will. You will see pointers, you will get a nudging.
What are you good at?
Your place of natural talent is sometimes an indication to your purpose, ships do not have tires because they run on water, the equipment you carry is an indication of the terrain you are meant to work in. Your physical abilities, your build up, your voice, your personality and the likes are an indication to what you are meant to be doing.
What is your pain?
There is a message in your mess, there is triumph in your trials, and there is a testimony in your test. Your challenges are sometimes a pointer to your call. Evangelist and Motivational speaker and founder of life without limbs Nick Vujicic is an example. Born without any limb but is running circles around those who have legs and hands. What others call a predicament or a disability has become his greatest ability, the source of strength and motivation to many and he is giving millions hope operating from his place of calling.
It could be a bad childhood experience, a near death experience, you might have been a victim of domestic abuse or hate crimes, can preventing this become your cause. We have seen movements started by victims of drug abuse, alcoholism and rape to mention a few. A bad experience is not the end of your life, while it’s not preordained you can make your wrong choice and bad experiences work to your advantage.
What ills in society get to you?
When you walk on the streets are there a group of persons your heart yearns to help? This might be a pointer to your call. To some its children, others its teenagers, some women and some young men. Whichever the group, be they widows, divorcees or sportsmen, find them and change their lives through the gifts God has given you.
Today the 26th of April is my Birthday, I do not know yours but I want to ask you, do you know your why? Why are you alive? What do you live for? If you do not know, make it your sole purpose to find out why and when you do, spend the rest of your life going after your why and God will bless you. Your life begins when you know why you were born, for only then have you found your true birthday.
Commit to a daily routine to grow your mind.
That’s G.Y.M for today and I trust that you are charged up and obsessed with a burning desire to succeed. Ordinary is a misnomer for you.
Plan, Act and Pursue your dream.
