What do you Expect?

What do you expect when you go in for that interview? What do you expect when you write the exam? What do you expect when you go in for that meeting to close that deal? What do you expect when you start a business? What do you expect when you get married? What do you expect when you actually fail?

Do you see the silver lining in those dark clouds or does your mind autosuggest to you that you are done and dusted.

For those of us in the African Continent the systems, structures, performance of government, our neighbors, the street even the air we breathe is almost a reminder that you should not expect much.
When you dream, when you are too trusting, when you are busting with belief, when you feel invisible, when you feel like your own action hero, you are often reminded to come back to reality.

But what is reality? Often when we are nudged to come back to reality that is their reality not yours. Your mind is a beautiful organ, so powerful it achieves what it’s programmed to achieve.

Edmund Spenser said “it is the mind that maketh good or ill, that maketh wretch or happy, rich or poor”

Anthony Robbins said “what a person believes, what he thinks is possible or impossible, to a great extent determines what he can or cannot do.

There is an old phrase that says “whether you believe you can do something or you believe you can’t, your right”

If John Bunyan after being confined to prison and punished solely because of his religious views went on to write the Pilgrims progress, if Thomas Edison was expelled from school for mental deficiencies but went on to become one of the greatest inventors of all time, if Helen Keller became blind, deaf and dumb shortly after birth but still became the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor’s of Art degree, if the poet John Milton was blind and Beethoven was deaf, then I beg to ask you, don’t you think the reality of your excuse for failure is twisted.

John Molton Said “the mind is in its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, or a hell of Heaven.

In Your bid to fit in and please everyone, not to be seen as being overly ambitious or out of touch with reality you have made a mortal of a God.

Let success, productivity, progress, possibility, invisibility become your default belief. Don’t expect less of yourself for you were meant to rule. Exceptional is your normal.

Finally Marianne Williamson said
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do”.

So I ask what do you expect.

Commit to a daily routine to grow your mind.
That’s G.Y.M for today and I trust that you are charged up and obsessed with a burning desire to succeed. Ordinary is a misnomer for you.

Plan, Act and Pursue your dream.
